Spring Sleep Changes in Babies: Why Bedtime Gets Harder & How to Help Your Child Sleep Better

Spring, Renewal and a Little Extra Care

Parents of young children are finally starting to believe that sunny afternoons outdoors are here again, and that thick coats, scarves, hats and gloves can soon be swapped for lighter layers. Sunny hours are going up, while the time spent getting dressed is going down. That alone is enough to put a smile on many faces, and Nosiboo would love to add to that joy. This month we’ve prepared three topics for you: an Easter-themed spring promotion, insights into how changing sleep patterns affect children, and a social cause that is especially important to us.

Why do evenings get harder when the days get longer?

As much as we look forward to spring, warmer weather and longer days, this new season is not always easy for families with young children. The spring equinox brings more daylight and longer days, but it can also shake up the internal clocks of babies and toddlers. As the sun rises earlier and sets later, the increased light affects the body’s natural biological rhythm — the circadian rhythm — as well as the production of melatonin, the hormone that helps us sleep.

If you notice earlier morning wake-ups, longer and more difficult bedtimes, more frequent night wakings, and your previously stable routine slowly shifting, there’s no need to worry or feel that you’ve done something wrong. This transitional period usually lasts from early March to mid-April and tends to affect the youngest children the most, as their nervous systems are still actively adapting to changes in their environment.

There’s always a way to make things easier

During times of change, the things that remain constant and predictable become even more valuable. That’s why it’s important to remember that for children, routine is not a limitation but a source of security. A consistent bedtime routine — activities repeated in the same order, at a calm pace, and with fewer stimuli — helps the body gradually prepare for sleep, even when natural light makes it more difficult. Through these small but consistent steps, children’s bodies gradually learn that evening is a time for winding down, rest, and safety.

Gentle help for easier bedtime

Often, the greatest help doesn’t come from big solutions, but from gentle, caring support. At Nosiboo, we believe that sleep is not a problem to solve, but a natural process best supported with love, attention, and a safe environment.

With this in mind, Nosiboo Zigg was created — a gentle sleep aid that helps make falling asleep calmer and gradually restore a balanced sleep rhythm during this transitional period. It doesn’t replace evening cuddles, bedtime stories or a parent’s presence, but naturally fits into your existing bedtime routine. Zigg offers gentle support so that falling asleep becomes a soothing, comforting moment at the end of the day rather than a struggle.

Care does not depend on chromosome count

21 March is World Down Syndrome Day. The date refers to trisomy 21 and represents a message that is especially important to Nosiboo: every child matters, and every family deserves support.

Children with Down syndrome may have different facial and nasal structures, which can make them more prone to respiratory problems. During the spring cold season, it may be harder for them to clear nasal mucus naturally, which can also make breathing more difficult.

This is why using a nasal aspirator is especially important in their case, as it helps clear the airways in a gentle, effective and safe way. This is not just a matter of comfort, but also of children’s wellbeing, calmness and quality of life — and just as much about everyday family life: more peaceful nights, easier breathing, and less worry.

Support That Truly Makes a Difference

At Nosiboo, supporting families of children with Down syndrome is not just a belief, it’s something we actively bring to life. This year, we donated a total of 109 devices to two organizations: the Down Foundation and the Pécs Down Foundation.

Through this contribution, we aim not only to support the dedicated work of caregivers, but also to make everyday life more comfortable for families. Our commitment is also backed by research, which shows that our airflow-based technology can provide particularly effective support in removing nasal mucus, helping to ease daily challenges.

We remain dedicated to contributing to this community year after year, not only with words, but with meaningful actions.
